Itinerary

Day One, Thursday, 8 October 2020, depart Atlanta

Day Two, Friday, 9 October 2020, Arrive in Thessalonika, the second largest city of Greece. Enjoy the day at your own leisure. Take a walk by the seaside promenade and explore the beautiful city center! Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Thessaloniki.

Day Three, Saturday, 10 October 2020, Breakfast at the hotel. This morning we will enjoy a half day tour of Thessaloniki. We will view the white tower and visit the triumphal Arch of Galerius, the Rotunda, the remains of the Palace complex of Galerius and the Roman Forum. We will also enjoy a drive to the upper part of the old city walls that offer excellent views of the city below. In the afternoon meet with A21 campaign and Pastor Phil. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Thessaloniki.

Day Four, Sunday, 11 October 2020, Breakfast at the hotel and depart to Philippi, passing by the Lion of Amphipolis (short stop for photos). We visit Philippi, the site where Paul established a strong church. To this congregation he sent his letter (Acts 16:9-33). We see the river where Lydia is said to have been baptized, the ruins of a prison where Apostle Paul and Sylas had been kept, the Agora, 5th and 6th century Basilica and the Theater. After the visit, we continue to Kavala, the ancient port of Neapolis (Acts 16:11) where we enjoy free time for lunch and exploring. Return to the hotel in Thessalonica for dinner and overnight.

Day Five, Monday, 12 October 2020, Breakfast at the hotel and check out. This morning we shall make our way to Berea (Acts 17:10-15) where Paul arrived and according to his custom went to the synagogue where he discovered that these Jews were “more noble” than those he had encountered in Thessalonica (Acts 17:10-11). We will visit the monument built in Paul’s honor by the modern Bereans. We then continue to Athens. Check in at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day Six, Tuesday, 13 October 2020, Breakfast at the hotel. This morning we will climb up to the Acropolis Hill to see the famous Parthenon Temple, Erectheion and Temple of Athena Nike. Then walk to nearby Mars’ Hill (Areopagus) (Acts 17:22) where Apostle Paul spoke to the Athenians about the one and only God. We will also visit Philopappos Hill and Socrates’ Prison. Enjoy the afternoon free in Plaka. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Athens.

Day Seven, Wednesday, 14 October 2020, Breakfast at the hotel and morning departure for our morning tour out of Athens. On the way, we stop at the historic Corinth Canal. It was Corinth (Acts 18:1-18) where Apostle Paul lived and worked, established a thriving church, subsequently sending two of his epistles now part of the New Testament. After visiting the sites associated with Apostle Paul’s ministry we continue to Acrocorinth, the acropolis of ancient Corinth. On our return to Athens we will stop at Cenchrea the port of ancient Corinth. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure in Athens. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Athens.

Day Eight, Thursday, 15 October 2020, Breakfast at the hotel. Our day begins with a panoramic bus drive viewing the city highlights. We will also visit the Temple of Zeus, and the ancient Agora. Enjoy lunch on your own in the Plaka as well as the afternoon free to explore or shop. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Athens.

Day Nine, Friday, 16 October 2020,

Day Ten, Saturday, 17 October 2020, depart Athens and return to Atlanta.
